Greenhouses — Rough Roots, Mustang, Yukon & the OKC Metro

Custom-built greenhouses designed for real growing in Oklahoma, built anywhere in the OKC metro. From simple starter houses to fully framed walk-in structures, every greenhouse we build is anchored to handle prairie wind, sealed to hold warmth through winter, and laid out around what you actually want to grow.

What We Build

Built for Oklahoma Wind

Box-store kits rattle loose and lose panels in the first real storm. We frame with real lumber, set posts in concrete, and anchor every panel so your greenhouse stays put when Oklahoma wind comes through.

Grow Through the Cold

A properly sealed and glazed greenhouse holds growing temperatures long after the first freeze. Keep tomatoes, greens, and herbs producing through an Oklahoma winter while everyone else waits for spring.

Your Food, No Mystery

Store-bought produce travels hundreds of miles and carries whatever was sprayed on it along the way. Growing your own means you control what goes in the soil and what ends up on your family's table.

Basic to Full Custom

From a simple lean-to against the garage to a fully framed glass house with power, water, and workbenches — some of our designs look like small houses. We scale the build to your budget and your growing plans.

Ventilation and Climate

Ridge vents, louvers, exhaust fans, and shade options sized to the structure. Oklahoma summers demand real airflow, and we design for it from the start.

Pest-Protected Growing

Screened vents, sealed sills, and tight-fitting doors keep grasshoppers, squash bugs, and rabbits away from your plants. Grow with fewer battles and less spraying.

How We Work

  1. We start with a site visit to look at sun exposure, drainage, wind direction, and where a greenhouse best fits your yard and your growing goals.
  2. We design the structure around what you want to grow. Size, glazing, benches, beds, ventilation, and utilities are locked in before we build.
  3. Posts and footings are set in concrete, framing goes up square and true, and glazing is sealed and anchored to handle Oklahoma wind and storm season.
  4. We finish with vents, doors, benches, and final detailing, then walk you through the space so it's ready for your first planting.

Why Rough Roots

We don't assemble mail-order kits. Every greenhouse is designed and built on site with real framing, proper anchoring, and materials chosen for Oklahoma's wind, heat, and cold. It's the difference between a structure that grows food for decades and one that ends up in your neighbor's yard after the first spring storm.

Building greenhouses across the entire OKC metro — Mustang, Yukon, Edmond, Norman, Moore, and beyond.

Greenhouse questions Oklahoma homeowners ask most

Why build a custom greenhouse instead of buying a kit?

Most kits are light-gauge aluminum and thin panels designed for mild climates. Oklahoma wind works those connections loose and sends panels flying. A custom greenhouse is framed with real lumber, anchored in concrete, and sealed against the weather — built for this climate instead of shipped to it.

Can I really grow food through an Oklahoma winter?

Yes. With the right glazing, sealing, and ventilation, a greenhouse holds growing temperatures well past the first freeze, and adding a small heat source extends that to year-round. Cold-hardy greens often need nothing more than the structure itself.

What can I grow in a backyard greenhouse?

Vegetables, herbs, starts for your spring garden, citrus and tropicals, or a full year-round produce rotation. We design the interior — beds, benches, and spacing — around what you plan to grow, so the space works instead of just sitting in the yard.

How much does a custom greenhouse cost?

Custom greenhouse builds start at $7,500, and pricing climbs with customization — size, glazing, foundation, and how far you take the interior. A fully framed glass structure with power, water, and a finished growing interior can run well into the tens of thousands. The best next step is to request a free estimate and talk through the scope.

Does a greenhouse help with pests?

A well-built one does. Screened vents, sealed sills, and tight door fits physically keep out grasshoppers, squash bugs, deer, and rabbits — which means less spraying and fewer lost harvests than an open garden bed.
